The Golden State Warriors‘ historic run of consecutive home wins is finally over. Following Friday night’s loss to the Boston Celtics, the Dubs dropped to 68-8 on the season, ruining their hopes of a perfect 41-0 home record and jeopardizing their chances of surpassing the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ all-time best record with 73 regular season wins.

The home defeat was a massive surprise, even against a mentally sound team like the Celtics, who should probably just appoint Brad Stevens as the mayor of Boston at this point. Despite 21 third quarter points from Stephen Curry and the Warriors shooting 20-for-43 from three-point range on the night (46.5 percent), the Dubs were unable to eke out the win.

There were plenty of disturbing takeaways from the game. Curry went off in the third quarter, yet the Celtics outscored Golden State by one in the period. Andrew Bogut left the game with an apparent rib injury. And there’s the obvious fact that the Dubs lost in a building where they had previously been invincible.

But as much as this story has been overblown in the past 48 hours, there are some important takeaways to be had from this one single game in an 82-game regular season. Here’s a look at the five main lessons from Golden State’s first home loss of the season.
