Analysis

The Wisconsin Badgers have a future NBA player in power forward Ethan Happ. The 19-year-old has helped himself tremendously during the 2016 NCAA Tournament, and while that run may be over, he’s opened doors at the next level.

The question is, does Happ want to gamble on making an immediate jump or play it safe and go in Round 1 in 2017?

If he is to declare for the 2016 NBA Draft, Happ bid his college career adieu in grand fashion. He posted 14 points and 12 rebounds against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, pulling down six offensive boards in a battle with Zach Auguste—one of the most dominant rebounders in the country.

Happ’s energy, athleticism, and defensive tenacity are all NBA-caliber, and that makes him worthy of evaluating on the draft front.

Happ is on the NBA Draft radar, but most are hoping to see more from him in 2016-17 before placing him in a Top 30. He’s flashed star potential throughout the 2015-16 season, and made the NCAA Tournament his coming out party in all three rounds he played.

Happ has immense NBA potential, and while there are currently flaws in his game, he can make the jump if he chooses to.
