Analysis

Perry Ellis will receive an opportunity to play in the NBA. His upside is somewhat limited by the fact that he’ll turn 23 before the 2016-17 regular season begins, but he’s a respected competitor with a versatile offensive game and good character.

As far as the 2016 NBA Draft is concerned, Ellis is doing an excellent job of bringing the eyes of the masses to his abilities.

Ellis erupted for 27 pints against the Maryland Terrapins, shooting 10-of-17 from the field and 7-of-7 from the free throw line. He was physically dominant along the interior, stepped out and scored from midrange, and moved fluidly enough in his motion to make plays in transition.

Having developed an outside shot, Ellis has the skill set necessary to be a contributing NBA player.

Ellis’ measurements at the 2016 NBA Draft scouting combine, specifically those of his wingspan, may determine his effectiveness at the next level. His 6’10” wingspan is lackluster, especially for a player who stands at 6’8″ and plays as often as he does on the low block.

Ellis isn’t going to be a first-round draft pick, but he’ll receive his fair opportunity to play in the Association.
