Notre Dame Fighting Irish: Is Matt Farrell A Creepy Spike Albrecht?

During the 2013 Final Four, Michigan’s Spike Albrecht tweeted at Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and over beauty human being Kate Upton, making himself a legendary underdog if their ever was one.

After Notre Dame’s thrilling win over Stephen F. Austin to advance to their second-straight Sweet 16, Matt Farrell had a .. .similar(?) approach to show his affection for CBS sideline reporter Allie LaForce.

Now, if we go to the playbook, these are two somewhat similar plays but executed very differently.

First, you have Spike, who kept Michigan in the game when things looked bleak against Louisville (dropped 17 points in the national championship game) and, despite Michigan’s loss, was feeling super confident and took his shot.

Then there’s Farrell, who played 31 minutes (a career-high) against the Lumberjacks and scored eight points, so he, too, was feeling it a little bit.

But there’s a huge distinction between these two strategies: while both were posted for millions of people to see, there’s no visual evidence of Spike being…whatever it is that Farrell was at that time.

Shoot for the stars, Matt Farrell, but don’t try to steal Spike’s thunder.
