24. Meet The New Boss, Better Than The Old Boss

The Celtics, in spite of their historic run of championship success, have been hobbled at times by weak and unstable ownership throughout their existence. The current ownership group, led by investment bankers Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca, bought the team for $360 million in September 2002. The Celtics were valued at $2.1 billion by Forbes in January of 2016. Grousbeck and Pagliuca are longtime eastern Massachusetts residents,

Grousbeck and Pagliuca are longtime eastern Massachusetts residents, lifetime fans of the team, and can be often seen sitting near courtside during games. Their financial resources and managerial skills have stabilized the franchise. They brought in Danny Ainge to run basketball operations in 2003 and he’s been there ever since. Ainge is the longest tenured GM/Team President in Boston after Bill Belichick.
