The Boston Celtics remain the NBA’s legacy franchise. Boston has won a record 17 NBA titles. The Celtics set a standard during the first three decades of the NBA that remains unmatched to this day. The Celtics won eight straight titles from 1959-66, and 11 in 13 years ending in 1969. Among the Naismith Memorial Hall of Famers who played or coached in Boston: Red Auerbach, Bill Russell, K.C. Jones, Bob Cousy, Tom Heinsohn, John Havlicek, Sam Jones, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish.

While Boston has only won one title in the past 29 years, the Celtics emerged from a second “Big Three Era” with an innovative young coach in Brad Stevens. Boston remains competitive in the East this season. Looking forward, the team stacked with draft picks, a deep well of salary cap money and available players to deal and sign big-name talent in the offseason.
