4. Beat The Spurs One More Time

San Antonio’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Monday provided the Dubs with some temporary breathing room, especially once Golden State’s narrow win over the Timberwolves moved the Warriors four games ahead of the Spurs in the standings.

More from Golden State Warriors

That’s probably an insurmountable gap for the Spurs to overcome with only 12 games left in the season, but crazier things have happened. With two San Antonio matchups looming — one at Oracle Arena and one at the AT&T Center — the Dubs will want to get at least one of them, if not both.

It’s not just about preserving the Dubs’ perfect home record either. Beating the Spurs in one or both of their upcoming meetings lets them know that one poor shooting performance won’t become an ongoing trend in a potential playoff series, it’ll limit them to the second seed, and it’ll make sure the Spurs know just how monumental a task they’ll be facing down the road.

In the final regular season matchup between these two NBA juggernauts, the Dubs will be playing on the road on the second night of a back-to-back, and it’ll also be the second-to-last game of the season. But if the Warriors take care of business these next few weeks and win that Oracle matchup with the Spurs, they could provide their starters with some much-needed rest with the No. 1 seed secured — unless 73 wins is still at stake.
