Lost in Western Conference Finals
The Portland Trail Blazers were an extraordinarily balanced scoring team in 1990-91. Led in scoring by Clyde Drexler’s 21.5 points per game, the Blazers featured seven players who averaged double digit scoring, including Terry Porter’s 17 points per game, Kevin Duckworth’s 15.8 points per game and Jerome Kersey’s 14.8 points per game.
In addition to the scoring balance the Blazers featured, they had both an efficient offense and defense. They had the second best offensive rating in the NBA, scoring 112.8 points per 100 possessions, and the third best defensive rating, giving up 104.3 points per 100 possessions.
The Blazers set a franchise record in wins which still stands in wins with 63 and ripped through the first two rounds of the playoffs, beating the Seattle SuperSonics 3-2 in five games and the Utah Jazz 4-1 before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games in the Western Conference finals.
