Every NBA Team’s Signature Season

Philadelphia 76ers, 1966-67
Record: 68-13
Won NBA championship
Nothing was fair about the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers with Wilt Chamberlain, not one thing. Chamberlain averaged 24.1 points and a preposterous 24.2 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game, while shooting 68.3 percent from the field.
Players simply weren’t supposed to be as big and strong as Wilt back in the day and he made the NBA world pay for not being able to keep up on his way to winning the NBA MVP award that year. In addition to winning a franchise-record and then-NBA record 68 games, the Sixers won the NBA championship.
They defeated the Cincinnati Royals 3-1 in the first round, the Boston Celtics 4-1 in the second round, and the San Francisco Warriors 4-2 in the Finals. Chamberlain averaged 17.7 points and an otherworldly 28.5 rebounds per game in the Finals and over the course of the playoffs averaged 21.7 points and 29.1 rebounds.
