Charlotte Hornets, 1997-98
Record: 51-31
Lost in Eastern Conference semifinals

The Charlotte Hornets have battled mediocrity for much of their existence, but they had a stretch in the late 1990’s when they were a fun franchise indeed. Without a doubt the most enjoyable squad of all of them in that era was the 1997-98 version, led by talented scorer Glen Rice.

Rice averaged 22.3 points per game on .457/.433/.849 to go with 4.3 rebounds per game that season. He was also named to his third and final All Star game, and was named to the All-NBA Third Team roster.

The Hornets beat the Atlanta Hawks 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs, but they made the mistake of running into the Chicago Bulls of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in their last championship run in the second round, falling in five games to the eventual NBA champions.
