Cleveland Cavaliers, 2008-09
Record: 66-16
Lost in Eastern Conference Finals

The Cleveland Cavaliers have long been snake bitten in the NBA playoffs and the 2008-09 season may be the best example of that. They tore through the NBA with a 66-16 record, posting the fourth best offensive rating and the third best defensive rating, but were unable to get over the hump and reach the NBA Finals.

They swept the first two rounds of the playoffs, playing the minimum eight games against the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks, but Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic were too much in the Eastern Conference finals. The Magic bounced the Cavs in six games, who went on to get dismantled in the NBA Finals by the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James carried that team on his shoulders, scoring 28.4 points per game and averaging 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. James won three seperate Player of the Week awards, and was named NBA MVP for the first of four times.
