Dallas Mavericks, 2010-11
Record: 57-25
Won NBA Championship

The 2010-11 season was never supposed to be about the Dallas Mavericks. It was all about the coronation of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat, but Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle and Dirk Nowitzki showed up to ruin the party.

The Mavericks had a strong regular season, winning 57 games, and blitzed their way to the Finals, losing just three games in the first three rounds of the playoffs, but were considered little more than an afterthought in the glow of the favored Heat.

The Mavericks dropped the first game, and the third game, but battled to keep things tight until they pulled ahead in the series in Game 5 and clinched it in Game 6, defeating the mighty Heat.

Nowitzki averaged 23 points per game in the regular season, 27.7 points in the playoffs, and 26 points and 9.7 rebounds in the NBA Finals en route to winning Finals MVP.
