Golden State Warriors, 2014-15
Record: 67-15
Won NBA championship
The Golden State Warriors projected to be quite good in 2014-15, but nobody expected them to end up as one of the best teams in the history of the NBA. While the Warriors might have an even better season this year and are on pace to have the best season of any team in NBA history, the 2014-15 campaign was one to remember.
Stephen Curry, once derided as a first round draft pick of the Warriors, transformed from very good shooter to elite offensive weapon and won his first MVP award, averaging 23.8 points per game and 7.7 assists per game on shooting splits of .487/.443/.914.
Rookie head coach Steve Kerr (who played on the Chicago Bulls’ 72-win team) had a season that head coaches can only dream of, winning 67 games in his debut season. He made critical lineup moves that slid veteran Andre Iguodala to the bench in favor of Harrison Barnes, and he deserves the lion’s share of credit for finally unleashing the transcendent Steph Curry.
