Every NBA Team’s Signature Season

Memphis Grizzlies, 2014-15
Record: 55-27
Lost in Western Conference semifinals
The Memphis Grizzlies are a throwback to a different era. In a time dominated by pace and space, positional fluidity and shooting, the Grizzlies were a physical grinding squad in 2014-15. The season fit their method of operation better than any other, as they battled their way to a 55-27 record through sheer effort and determination.
Once the playoffs rolled around, they made short work of the Portland Trail Blazers, taking them out in five games, and they were arguably the Golden State Warriors’ toughest competition in the playoffs in the Western Conference semifinals, pushing them to six games and shaking them unlike any other team in the postseason.
The Grizzlies were led by Marc Gasol’s 17.4 points and 7.8 rebounds, Zach Randolph’s 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds, and Mike Conley’s 15.8 points and 5.4 assists per game, but it was a team fueled more than anything by pure grit and grind.
