New Orleans Pelicans, 2007-08
Record: 56-26
Lost in Western Conference semifinals

Without a doubt, the pinnacle of the New Orleans Pelicans/Hornets franchise came in the 2007-08 season. The Hornets were led by a 22-year-old Chris Paul who averaged 21.1 points, 11.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game, Tyson Chandler and his 11.8 points and 11.7 rebounds, and David West’s 20.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

The Hornets got off to a hot start in the playoffs, beating the Dallas Mavericks 4-1 in the first round before falling in the Western Conference semis against the San Antonio Spurs in seven games. Chris Paul upped his game in the playoffs, averaging 24.1 points and 11.3 assists while shooting 50.2 percent from the floor.

That season, Byron Scott was named NBA Coach of the Year, while Paul was named to the All-NBA First Team, the All-Defensive Second Team and set franchise record in double-doubles (56), total assists (925) and total steals (217) for the season.
