11. Tom Chambers Improves His Vertical

Tom Chambers is one of 41 players in NBA history to score at least 20,000 career points, and no one seems to mention his name—ever. An all-around scoring threat who made four All-Star Game appearances and received two All-NBA Second Team nods, Chambers was a force to be reckoned with.

Of the 20,049 points he scored during his 1,107 regular season games played, none were quite as impressive as the two he recorded by flushing it over Mark Jackson.

Chambers literally put his knee on Jackson’s shoulder, thus elevating to new heights as he made his move to the hoop. By the time Chambers threw the dunk down, his eyes were above the rim and the crowd was on its feet.

The only two questions that existed during the play were whether or not Jackson was hurt, and if Chambers would hit his head on the rim while coming down.

Fortunately, both players were all right—physically. Jackson has since been immortalized on posters and in bronze, as the Phoenix Suns actually created a trophy, of sorts, with Chambers’ dunk over Jackson being the basis for it.

Chambers is one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, and while you may not hear much about him, you should spend some time every year revisiting this play.
