2016 NBA Rookie Ladder: Is Devin Booker A Star?
2. D’Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers
He’s slowed down a little bit over his last four games with only two out of four being double-digit scoring outputs, but his last month of production has led many to believe D’Angelo Russell is on the verge of being a special player in the league for years to come.
In the month of March Russell has averaged 18.8 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting from the field along with 4.0 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. Those numbers are nothing to sneeze at for a rookie guard, and his three-point shooting and transition playmaking have made the Lakers exciting to watch again after a miserable few seasons.
This season will go down as Kobe Bryant‘s fairwell tour, but Russell has put the rest of the NBA on notice that he’s not here to take a back seat to anyone. Had he shown this kind of skill all season we might’ve talked about him as the Rookie of the Year favorite.
