3. Home-Court Still In Play

It doesn’t matter who was available and who wasn’t; all that matters is the San Antonio Spurs now only trail the Golden State Warriors by three games for the best record in the league. With two games between these teams still remaining, the Spurs still have a puncher’s chance at securing home-court advantage through the playoffs.

That could be monumental in the event of a playoff matchup between these two juggernauts. The Spurs’ pushed their streak of consecutive home wins (regular season) to 44 games with the win over Golden State, going a perfect 35-0 at home on the season so far. The Warriors, meanwhile, have won 50 consecutive regular season games at Oracle Arena, including a perfect 32-0 this season.

The Spurs have a +15.1 point differential at home; the Warriors have a +15.6 point differential at home. With so much at stake between these two historically elite teams, a Western Conference Finals matchup could very well come down to which team has home-court advantage.

If that’s the case, the Spurs need to push for a the come-from-behind upset by securing that No. 1 seed in the West. The Warriors, meanwhile, need to continue on at their record-setting pace, because even if they lose their remaining two contests with the Spurs, they could still lock up the No. 1 seed by winning their other 11 remaining games.
