Analysis

Yogi Ferrell had an incredible opportunity to improve his draft stock in the Round of 32, and he cashed in on it. The Indiana Hoosiers star went toe-to-toe with star point guards and potential first-round draft picks Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis, and he was spectacular.

With an efficient 18 points and four assists to just one turnover, Ferrell effectively proved himself in front of a national viewership.

Ferrell needed this game, as many have stationed him at the bottom end of their Top 60. His ability to create penetration against two NBA-caliber players was encouraging, and his finishing ability at the rim was what scouts needed to see from the undersized point guard.

Ferrell’s age is a bit of a concern, and it will drop him down draft boards, but if Indiana can continue its magical run, he could crack the first round.

Ferrell has a great deal of fanfare, as most players who star for the Hoosiers do. It was this performance against Murray and Ulis, who are projected by many to be first-round picks, that should help elevate Ferrell into the early second round discussion.

Ferrell is one of the best point guards in the country, and he’ll have a chance to fly up draft boards against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Sweet 16.
