Analysis

Kris Dunn has firmly established himself as the best facilitator and ball-hawk in the 2016 NBA Draft. His court vision is star-caliber, his ability to strip an opponent of the ball is just as remarkable, and his patience in the passing lanes should appeal to all 30 NBA teams.

During the Round of 32, Dunn’s teammates struggled and left him with a tall task: score.

Dunn is a solid shooter who can create penetration with ease, but his 29-point performance against the North Carolina Tar Heels was special. He efficiently and methodically attacked the teeth of UNC’s defense, keeping things interesting for as long as he could.

Many were aware of what made him special from a pure point guard perspective, but this game brought his potential as a scorer to light.

Dunn looked like a young Dwyane Wade in the way he cut through the defense and finished over and around length. He also shined from beyond the arc, hitting three 3-point field goals, converting both off the catch and while pulling up off the bounce.

Dunn has been a Top 5 prospect for a vast majority of the 2015-16 season, but this game was his crown jewel.
