Analysis

With an opportunity to prove himself on a national stage, Yogi Ferrell dominated the Chattanooga Mocs. He picked his spots as a scorer, paced the Indiana Hoosiers as a facilitator, and proved, without a shadow of a doubt, that he’s ready for the big stage.

Ferrell has his fair share of flaws as a prospect, but if he steps up with more performances like this, he’ll intrigue general managers enough to receive Round 1 consideration.

Ferrell scored 20 points on 13 shots, going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He also dished out 10 assists to just two turnovers, effectively taking the Hoosiers onto his back and leading them to victory.

It was a signature performance for a player who has the rare opportunity to prove himself against NBA-caliber talent in the Round of 32.

Ferrell will lead the Hoosiers into a star-studded matchup with Jamal Murray, Tyler Ulis, and the Kentucky Wildcats. It will provide Ferrell with the opportunity to not only lead an upset bid, but to prove that he can play with two of the best point guards in this draft class.

If Ferrel is able to offer more of what he provided against Chattanooga, his draft stock will improve accordingly.
