4. Doug McDermott Continues To Shine

On the heels of a disappointing rookie campaign, McDermott continued to struggle during the first half of the current season. However, that trend changed for the better during February, as the second-year forward posted his best month of the season, averaging 14.4 points per contest with an impressive shooting split of .516/.408/.913.

Against the Wizards, McDermott was the lone bright spot for a Bulls team that didn’t have much of a spark. In the contest, he scored a team-high 20 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field, including an impressive 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.

That being said, McDermott has played well over the past six weeks and has scored in double figures in five of the eight games he has played in March. Along with that, McDermott reached the 20-point plateau in back-to-back games for the first time this season.

With a newfound level of confidence under Hoiberg, McDermott is starting to become the sharpshooter the Bulls had hoped for when they gave up two first-round picks to acquire him in the 2014 draft. It will be interesting to see if his improved play will be enough to propel Chicago to another postseason appearance.
