Dikembe Mutombo

Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks (1991-1999)

At 7-foot-2, Dikembe Mutombo is a massive player. Known for his famous finger wave he would do to opposing players he had just blocked, this giant made the Hall of Fame. With the way the NBA has changed to primarily a three-point shooting league, Mutombo wouldn’t have many chances to do his finger wave.

The post players that lead the league in blocks in today’s NBA can do one thing that Mutombo never could; shoot. Players in today’s NBA such as Hassan Whiteside and DeAndre Jordan, who are one and two in blocks per game rank, would destroy Mutombo one-on-one in the post.

Following Whiteside and Jordan in blocks per game are Anthony Davis, Pau Gasol, and Serge Ibaka. All of these players are great shooters from the 4 or 5 positions and Mutombo would have a great deal of trouble dealing with these types of players.
