Ranking The Top NBA Players By Age: Age 23
13. Tyler Johnson
Rookie Josh Richardson has done an excellent job filling the void left in the Miami Heat‘s backcourt thanks to Tyler Johnson’s shoulder surgery, but make no mistake about it: this second-year stud out of Fresno State has surpassed everyone’s wildest expectations.
Averaging 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, Johnson’s numbers are hardly noteworthy for most people living outside the South Beach area. But Johnson was an infusion of energy off the bench as the team’s backup point guard, and his efficient shooting (48.6 percent from the floor, 38 percent from three-point range) was a useful boost to the second unit.
How Erik Spoelstra reincorporates Johnson into the lineup once he’s fully healthy remains to be seen, especially since the Heat are playing great basketball right now thanks to Richardson stepping up. But one thing is certain: Tyler Johnson can play, and will be sought after in free agency.
