6. Elfrid Payton
It won’t be long before Elfrid Payton is one of the most overlooked point guards in the league. Not only is his defense superb, his playmaking developing nicely and his perimeter shooting vastly improving, but no one talks enough about his ridiculous hairdo that would make The Weeknd proud.
Hairstyles aside, Payton is averaging 10.7 points, 6.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game this season, all while shooting 43.2 percent from the floor and 38.2 percent from three-point range.
Payton has only made 59.6 percent of his free throws this season and the Orlando Magic have posted a catastrophic 9-24 record since the calendar flipped to 2016, but it seems like it’s only a matter of time before this quick and scrawny young point guard becomes the two-way floor general this rebuilding team needs.
