3. Justise Winslow

A little more than two weeks from now, Justise Winslow will turn 20 years old and no longer have a place among this list of 19-year-olds. But for now, the Miami Heat‘s swingman has rapidly cemented himself as not only the best wing defender in this rookie class, but quite possibly the best defender at any position in this year’s rookie class.

His 7.9 PER doesn’t tell the whole story here, since Winslow leads all regular rotation guys in defensive rating (97.9) and is their go-to defender off the bench.

On the offensive end, Winslow still needs a lot of work. He’s only averaging 6.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 28.2 minutes per game, and his .424/.253/.699 shooting splits suggest the biggest area for improvement in his game is exactly what everyone figured it’d be heading into the draft: shooting.

In his best statistical game of the season, Winslow finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals in an eight-point win over the Pacers. He made five of his 10 shots and played 40 minutes as well.

Winslow is going to be a two-way workhorse for Miami for years to come, and like the top four players on this list, he has an incredibly high ceiling that could make him one of the best players to emerge from this draft class.
