6. Rashad Vaughn

So far, we’ve been able to see very little of what Rashad Vaughn can do. Though he tore it up in NBA Summer League (17.2 PPG) and has appeared in 57 games for the Milwaukee Bucks this season, his shooting woes have prevented him from finding substantial minutes in Jason Kidd‘s rotation.

More from NBA

Though Vaughn’s 91.7 free throw percentage suggests there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with his shooting form, his 30.4 field goal percentage and 30.9 three-point percentage have made it hard for Kidd to justify playing him more than 11.9 minutes per game. Even in Summer League, his scoring came on a high volume of inefficient shooting (36.4 FG%, 25 3P%).

Vaughn is averaging 2.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per game on the season, with a Player Efficiency Rating of 4.0 — the second-worst PER among all rookies, trailing only Pat Connaughton‘s 0.5.

In his best game of the season, a 12-point loss to the Knicks on Jan. 10, Vaughn tallied a career-high 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting, along with two rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes. He still has PLENTY of time to figure out his role in the NBA (likely as a gunner off the bench), but so far he doesn’t deserve to be placed higher than our other five 19-year-olds.
