There are several great players in the NBA right now, but only 10 of them made this list.
Everybody who talks about the NBA has, at one time or another, referred to a great player as a top-10 or top-five guy. That term is safe to use because there’s no official list of the best players currently in the NBA.
There are players seen as great, and some are a lock to be in the top 10. Many are not. This list sets out to end the practice of 15-20 different players being called top-10 guys. That’s illogical.
Of course no list is definitive, and somebody will always have an argument for why Player X should or should not be included here. Those people can make their own lists, because this one is locked in.
There will likely be an update necessary after the NBA Finals, but for now this is my list. There are great players who aren’t included. There are surprise inclusions as well. That’s life.

None of those exclusions or inclusions were done to draw attention to this list or stand out. Every decision I made was purely a basketball one, with as little personal bias included as possible.
One final note before the real article begins: injuries made this a little harder to put together, as they usually do. If a player is young and not yet on the decline, injuries were counted against them as minimally as possible.
They can cloud the stats, but Paul George is proof enough that even a serious injury does not automatically spell the end of a player’s greatness.
