Isaiah Thomas is averaging 29.7 points per game over his past three games and he is shooting an impressive 58 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from deep.

This year has been the year of the point guard with how well players like Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry and John Wall have been playing. Isaiah Thomas is another player that is playing like an elite point guard. Thomas is having the best season of his career for the Boston Celtics; he is averaging 21.8 points and 6.7 assists per game.

He has been the Celtics’ best offensive weapon this season, and as of late he has been playing extremely well.

In the Celtics’ last three games, Thomas is putting up monster numbers by averaging 29.7 points per game, and he has not recorded a single turnover during this stretch, which might be the most impressive part of this streak. Over Thomas’s last 10 games, he has averaged 24.7 points and 7.2 assists per game.

Thomas has also shown that he can play well against teams that he has struggled against in the past, like the Cleveland Cavaliers. On March 5, Thomas had 27 points and he went 9-of-15 from the field.

Thomas has struggled against the Cavaliers; he shot 5-of-19 from the field against the team on Feb. 5, and he played poorly against Cleveland in last season’s first-round playoff series by shooting 33.3 percent from the field while averaging 17.5 points per game.

Big guards seem to really throw off Thomas’s rhythm, but this season he has really stepped up his game, especially as he is no longer a sixth man.

Thomas is the closest thing Boston has to a star

People were a little upset that the Celtics did not make a move for a “star” at the deadline, but the team does still have Thomas, who is playing the best basketball of his career now that he is permanent starter. Thomas never started a game for Celtics last season. This year he has started 61 of 64 games.

Thomas has been the most reliable offensive player on the Celtics this season, and even though he can be a liability on defense due to his size, he has shown that he can hit the clutch bucket down the stretch. The Celtics have been playing some close games since the All-Star break, and when they need a bucket, the team relies heavily on Thomas to either create for others or take the big shot.

Thomas usually the shortest guy on the court, but he is always one of the best offensive players on the court; no matter who they play.

Overall

Thomas has been incredible on the offensive end as of late and if he keeps this up, this Celtics’ team will be very hard to beat. He’s shooting much more efficiently from the field and beyond the arc, and he is creating more opportunities for his teammates to score every game.

It is crazy to think that he started the season as a sixth man again, but once he got his opportunity to start for the Celtics, he has been one of the best offensive point guards in the NBA.

Boston’s next game is against the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night, and Thomas torched the team in their last game against them on Jan. 10 by putting up 35 points and eight assists. Thomas will try to keep up his impressive play Wednesday and try not to commit a turnover for the fourth straight game, which would be extremely impressive.
