John Wall was the best thing the Washington Wizards had going last week, earning him WizKid Player of the Week honors.

Every Monday until the end of the regular season I will be awarding a Washington Wizards player the title of WizKid of the week. This honor will be given to a Wizards player that has played in games the week before. In those games, a career-high game, the statistics they’ve accumulated were amazing; even things they have done off the court will be considered in choosing this honor.

Of course, the first person I had to give give the honor of WizKid to was none other than point guard John Wall.  Wall had a great week, averaging 22.8 points, 10.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He also led his team to a 3-2 record during that span.

Wall was spectacular in last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite LeBron James not playing, he took the matchup against Kyrie Irving head on as he racked up a double-double (21 points, 13 assists). He showed that he deserves to be mentioned with the great point guards the game has today. He also shows competitive drive by taking the matchup seriously.

Wall also had another double-double game on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Albeit against lower competition, Wall and the team respected their opponent and dished out 12 helpers to his teammates end route to a 104-98 win. His constant ability to rely on his teammates is plus for Wall.

Although he was not able to lead his team to victory on Saturday, Wall led his team with 25 points and 12 assists against the Indiana Pacers. Wall was also forced to put the team on his back when Bradley Beal went down with a sprained pelvis in the third quarter. His will to carry his team shows as he was willing to take the last shot to win the game.

Unfortunately, he missed the shot, but it’s moments like those that can probably give a notch in the rankings of the best point guards in the league.

Without saying Wall is the best player on his team. He has exemplified that with the stat line he showed and the leader he has continued to mature into. Wall seemed to have a chip on his shoulder with having to bet on he himself as one the league’s best. He has come a long way to being a complete player in the NBA.
