3. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks aren’t the sexy destination that fans would like to think they are. Carmelo Anthony will turn 32 in May, Kristaps Porzingis is still very early in his development, and the rest of the roster is flush with solid, but not spectacular talent.

If LeBron James is looking to build his brand, however, there is no better market for him to do so in than New York.

Whether or not he succeeds in bringing a championship to the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning one for the Knicks would put him in a different tier of greatness. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’d better than anyone else, but being a legend in a city like New York is something special.

The Knicks haven’t won a championship since 1973, and James ending that streak would put him up there with even the most enviable of icons.

New York is an unforgiving market, but James and Anthony would be a tandem that could lead the Knicks back from the depths of despair. LeBron would also have a chance to join forces with Phil Jackson, who coached both Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

Most, “Knicks get the superstar,” theories are unfounded, but this one actually makes some degree of sense.
