NBA: 20 Players Turning Their Seasons Around
14. Jamal Crawford
With Blake Griffin out, it’s taken a collective effort to help the Los Angeles Clippers keep their season on track. But one of the biggest reasons behind Lob City’s 21-7 record without the Flyin’ Lion has been Jamal Crawford, who’s overcome a horrendous slump start to the season in order to help Doc Rivers space the floor in the team’s new spread offense.
Crawford is only averaging 14.2 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting from the field this season, but ever since Griffin’s injury that’s sidelined him for the last 28 games, Crawford is averaging 16.8 points per game on slightly more efficient shooting splits of .433/.331/.903.
The Clippers have outscored opponents by 5.1 points per game with Crawford on the floor during that 28-game span, and though he’s only been a starter for three games this season, he’s proving once again why he’s one of the league’s most important sixth men.
