16. Miles Plumlee

It seems like ages ago that Miles Plumlee averaged 8.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as the starting center for a 2013-14 Phoenix Suns team that won 48 games. Before the last eight games, Greg Monroe was the de facto starter and Miles Plumlee was virtually nonexistent in the rotation, averaging 2.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 9.0 minutes per game.

But with the Milwaukee Bucks going 20-32 and surrendering 106.2 points per 100 possessions in that span, a change of some sort was needed. Milwaukee kept Monroe at the trade deadline, but head coach Jason Kidd‘s decision to insert Miles Plumlee into the starting lineup two games before the deadline has resulted in a 5-3 record and vastly improved defensive rating (102.0) ever since.

Plumlee is averaging 7.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game over the last eight games, and his fit with this young, defensive core seems to be better. Can Monroe continue to be one of the league’s most overpaid sixth men? Believe it or not, Miles Plumlee may soon make that a discussion worth having.
