NBA: 20 Players Turning Their Seasons Around
10. Markieff Morris
Speaking of the Phoenix Suns, Markieff Morris had been playing excellent basketball just before his former team shipped him to the Washington Wizards for a potentially valuable first round draft pick. In his five games following Jeff Hornacek‘s firing, Keef immediately found his rhythm again, averaging 20.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game on 44.8 percent shooting.
He had a rocky start to his Wizards tenure, averaging 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game on atrocious .267/.000/.750 shooting splits in his first four contests. But since then, he’s posted 11.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game on 48.1 percent shooting, including a 16-point, 13-rebound, five-assist outing in his first game as a starter that also featured a dagger jumper.
People were quick to dismiss Morris’ trade value given his reputation as a head case, but there’s still a productive player in there. In the right environment, he’s going to get the chance to flourish and help these struggling Wizards make a push for the postseason.
