8. Justise Winslow, Miami Heat

Is Justise Winslow the best offensive player in his draft class? Far from it. His shooting splits of .420/.245/.707 with a PER of 8.05 suggest mediocrity on the wing. Numbers don’t lie as Winslow’s been inconsistent at best shooting and scoring from the perimeter.

What those stats don’t talk about is how good he is on defense. Winslow’s 1.64 defensive real plus/minus is 11th in the NBA among small forwards according to ESPN.com. That puts him in company with some of the top players at his position, meaning he hasn’t been a complete wreck like some of his other peers this year.

His stroke from outside isn’t broken and he’ll improve on offense over time. The fact that the Heat can use him all over the floor on defense will bode well for the playoffs when they need someone to contain the opposing team’s best offensive talent.
