Honorable mentions:

Tristan Thompson

Tristan Thompson, despite being grossly overpaid, is a huge part of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ mission to reach the NBA Finals for the second consecutive time. Everyone’s favorite garbageman, the scrappy Thompson is the league’s best offensive rebounder and a premier post defender. He doesn’t put up glamorous stats, but his timely scoring, his ability to create without the ball, and his stopping ability warrants an honorable mention nod.

DeMarre Carroll

DeMarre Carroll has transitioned from “elite defensive wing” to “elite defensive wing with an outside stroke and a new knack for scoring.” Despite being the only Atlanta Hawks starter to not be named an All-Star last year, he was a crucial part of their 60-win season and was a major source of offense in the postseason. He will certainly give a boost to the already-surging Toronto Raptors once he returns from a knee injury.

Chandler Parsons

Chandler Parsons, who is steadily working his way back from his own knee injury has really started to come on as of late for his Dallas Mavericks squad. The 27-year-old is averaging 18.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in his last ten contests while shooting 52.3 percent from the field. His versatility on offense makes him a valuable tool in Rick Carlisle‘s intricate scheme. Parsons is a very intelligent player who doesn’t try to do too much, which has made him a perfect fit in both Houston and Dallas as a second or third option.

Al-Farouq Aminu

Al-Farouq Aminu still isn’t a very polished offensive player, but his consistency on defense and on the glass makes him a valuable asset for any team. Though playing for his third team in six seasons, Aminu is universally recognized as a solid do-it-all player and a leader on the court, and epitomizes individual sacrifice for team play. His presence has been important to the Portland Trail Blazers, who are seeing unexpected success in the West.

Zaza Pachulia

The almost-All-Star, Zaza Pachulia has been everything Dallas Mavericks fans could’ve asked for this year. The 7-footer is averaging 9.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, all while anchoring the Mavs’ top-15 defense. He’s willing to commit the hard foul in the name of his team, and as a feared enforcer, he earns an honorable mention.
