2015 The Phoenix Suns

Hindsight being what it is we know things could’ve gone better for the Suns. They haven’t improved, in fact they’ve fallen threw a rabbit hole. The slash brothers are a foot note in history and the Isaiah Thomas tenure in Phoenix was short lived.

The Deals:

The Suns dealt the brothers Dragic (Goran and Zoran) to the Miami Heat. In return they received Danny Granger, John Salmons, and the Heat’s first-round selections in 2017 and 2019. The Pelicans who were the third party facilitator received Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton, and Shawne Williams.

Also, in what now appears like an incredibly lop sided deal the Suns sent Isaiah Thomas to the Boston Celtics for Marcus Thornton (currently with the Rockets) and the Cleveland Cavaliers 2016 first-round pick.

The Suns thought they were on the cusp of something special but in earnest the franchise is smack dab in the middle of a rebuild. The sun burned out before the franchise truly evolved into something special.

The Phoenix future now sits squarely on the shoulders of it’s young core. Archie Goodwin, Devin Booker, Alex Len, and T.J. Warren have their work cut out for them.
