2001 The Philadelphia 76ers

The often underrated 2001 Philadelphia 76ers were a defensive stronghold. People want to believe that Allen Iverson and a bunch of no names to the 2001 NBA Finals but frankly that wasn;t the case. The anchor of the defense was Dikembe Mutombo who came to the Sixers at the deadline. Mutumbo also won Defensive Player of the Year in 2001 and though the Sixers couldn’t beat the 2000 Los Angeles Lakers no team could’ve. Side note; look at prime Shaquille O’Neal making the DPOY look like a miniature doll.

The Deal

Mutombo and Roshown McLeod headed to Philly, in exchange the Atlanta Hawks received Toni Kukoc, Nazr Mohammed, Theo Ratliff, and Pepe Sanchez.

Mutombo averaged 16.8 PPG, 12.2 RPG, and 2.2 BPG in the 2001 Finals and hung around Philadelphia one more season before being traded to the New Jersey Nets.
