2006 The New York Knicks

The Big Apple made a big move in 2006, acquiring guard Steve Francis at the deadline. It was a wonderfully comical move, the Knicks clustered Francis around an already shot happy and congested backcourt. The other names included Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, and Jalen Rose who was also acquired prior to the deadline.

The Knicks explosive backcourt imploded and the above picture captures the brief but cruel era of Knicks history perfectly. This whole trade was some kind of cold.

The Deal

The Knicks received Francis, the Magic received Trevor Ariza and long lost son Anfernee Hardaway, who they waived immediately.

In the Knicks defense Francis was near done, he went back to the Houston Rockets in 2007 and only played 10 more games before calling it a career.
