Brooklyn Nets

Congratulations, Brooklyn Nets fans! Your owner Mikhail Prokhorov actually made a prude decision for this franchise by hiring San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Sean Marks as your GM! Bravo!

Unfortunately, by waiting until the day of the trade deadline, the Nets were robbed of virtually any chance they had of letting him get to work and cash in the few assets this team has for future draft picks. There was no indication coming out of Brooklyn that this was ever the plan, but someone would have parted with a future first-rounder for Brook Lopez or Thaddeus Young, right?

Toronto and Boston reportedly came calling about Young, but the new GM wanted to see what he’s working with first, and so the Nets remain unchanged at the trade deadline. There’s hope in the form of a new GM, but Brooklyn fans will have to wait to see what he can do.

The Nets earn an “A” for their new hire and an “F” for their continued state of depression that remains unchanged after this year’s trade deadline, so we’ll balance it out to a “C” overall.
