David Lee

2015-16 Stats:

  • PPG: 7.1
  • RPG: 4.3

Since winning his first championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2014-15, David Lee has not had much to be proud of. Last summer, he was traded to the Boston Celtics and since Dec. 26, he has played in just three games.

Lee’s huge $15 million contract is the major motivating factor for getting rid of him. The Celtics are currently looking for a superstar to create a go-to guy on their team and they will need to shed his salary before they can do that.

Lee has suffered from minor injuries, such as a strained hamstring, in his past few seasons and a spot with the Mavs and their training staff could help him get back on track to finish his career strong. Lee would be a perfect backup for Dirk Nowitzki and he is still a very good player, capable a dropping a double-double at times.

It’s almost a given at this point that he will be bought out eventually but the question remains as to if the Mavs will be interested and what they would be willing to pay a forward who is already past his prime.
