Lance Stephenson

2015-16 Stats:

  • PPG: 4.7
  • APG: 1.4
  • RPG: 2.5

Lance Stephenson is a player with a future yet to be determined. As a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, Stephenson has had a down year. Earlier in the week, talks opened on a possible deal involving Channing Frye heading to the Clippers. If this ends up happening, the Magic have already made it clear that he would be waived.

While talks looked like they were close to being finalized, the Cleveland Cavaliers have recently swooped in to make matters more difficult.

If he hits the market, Stephenson will be an interesting thought for the Mavs, considering his behavior issues. During the summer of 2014, Stephenson had a verbal agreement with the Mavs (according to cbssports.com) had the Rockets matched the offer for Chandler Parsons.

"“Dallas did not think that Houston was going to let Parsons walk. Lance was very close to being a member of the Mavericks.”"

The problem for Stephenson is that ever since he left the Indiana Pacers, he has not found a great situation. His time in Charlotte was only one year and it looks as if his time with the Clippers could be nearing an end.

Stephenson would be another risky signing for the Mavs as he has the tendency to cause tension within an organization with his actions, but the hope would be to sign him for a decent deal and help him return to his old self in a bench role.

Stephenson is capable of doing a little bit of everything, as well as playing some lockdown defense, and he would be a coveted player if he finds a team he can thrive with.
