Kevin Martin

2015-16 Stats:

  • PPG: 11.3
  • APG: 1.3
  • RPG: 2.0

Kevin Martin has been an interest for the Mavs for quite some time. In years past, it has seemed like he has always been a target somewhere on the Mavs’ list of possible options.

This season, it looks like he is finally going to be moved. After spending the last two seasons in Minnesota, including avetraging 20.0 points per game in 2014-15, the Wolves have been actively looking for a trade partner for Martin. However, his current contract is worth more than $7 million and he is set to receive a few hundred thousand more in 2016-17.

With that in mind, it makes it unlikely that he will be traded and more likely that he will be bought out.

With the desire for another scoring guard to come off of the bench, Martin would be the perfect fit in a Rick Carlisle-run system. He would most likely be the top scoring option on the bench since he has been a regular double-digit scorer over his career.

One top-notch attribute Martin would bring to the team is his veteran experience. Even as a 33-year-old, Martin is still a very valuable piece and would bring great leadership to the bench. He will be very attractive to contenders if he does indeed get bought out, and he has said that he wishes to end up on a winning team.

Though the Mavs aren’t one of the top teams in the West, the atmosphere in their organization is enough to attract any player looking for a new home.
