Miami Heat: 5 Players To Target At Trade Deadline
Randy Foye
With Tyler Johnson’s return in doubt for the season, the Heat could look to add a player in his mold as a combo guard off the bench that can score but also lead the offense if need be. While Brian Roberts will help in that area, he is more of a pure point guard than scoring option; why not add a scoring option in Randy Foye?
Foye is in the midst of one of the worst, if not the worst, season of his NBA career, which could make him relatively cheap to acquire. He is averaging career-lows in points and minutes per game, while making only 35.1 percent of his shots overall and 29.6 percent from deep.
But, Foye has been a strong three-point shooter in his career, making 37 percent from deep. That is something the Heat could desperately use from their backcourt, as Foye would step right into the role left behind by Johnson. Also good for the Heat is that Foye is relatively cheap, as his salary for this season is only $3.135 million.
Already a tax-paying team, the Heat are not looking to add salary as they try to avoid getting taxed more heavily. Foye should not hurt them much with his smaller salary, and is someone the Heat should be able to get for cheap as he is struggling this season and the Nuggets have other players they want to give playing time to.
Zach Lowe of ESPN has said that the Heat are looking for inexpensive options that would fall under the three-and-D category, and Foye is one of the players on their list.
