Jerryd Bayless

I know, I know. The Clippers have enough shoot-first combo guards on their bench, but Jerryd Bayless could be an upgrade over all of them.

Austin Rivers is out for a month after breaking his left hand and the Clippers have only 38-year-old Pablo Prigioni as a true point guard on the roster outside of Chris Paul. In the five games without Rivers, Paul has been playing 38.5 minutes per game, including a whopping 48 minutes in Wednesday night’s overtime loss to the Celtics.

If the Clippers want to keep Paul fresh for the playoffs, they’re going to need to add another point guard. Paul hasn’t had a perfect injury history himself and if he were to go down, the Clippers might be faced with Jamal Crawford or Lance Stephenson playing real minutes at point guard.

The Bucks are in a similar position to the Pelicans as a disappointing young team that should be looking towards the future. The Bucks have a bit of a logjam at point guard with Michael Carter-Williams, Greivis Vasquez, and Bayless and could be willing to part ways with Bayless for cheap.

Bayless is a professional scorer, averaging 10.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 44.1 percent on three pointers.

Bayless is a veteran who will be a free agent after the season and the Bucks have little to play for after a 21-32 start. The Bucks could part ways with Bayless for cheap if they’re looking to rebuild their roster around some of their younger pieces.
