More from Hoops Habit

Miles Plumlee has played for three teams in three and a half seasons in the NBA. He broke out in 2013-14 with the Phoenix Suns when he averaged a near double-double (8.1 PPG, 7.8 RPG) while starting 79 games. He can play both power forward and center and would be a great addition off of the bench for a team like the Mavs that sits in the middle of the playoff standings.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have already made it clear that they are interested in Plumlee, meaning there is a small market for him. The Bucks brought Plumlee in at last season’s trade deadline but since then, he has been less than spectacular which could be a reason for them to look at trading him away.

Why Plumlee fits in Dallas: Plumlee would be a great addition to the Mavs bench since they have struggled to find a consistent bench big man this season. Dwight Powell is obviously a promising young player on the rise but others like JaVale McGee and Salah Mejri have too many question marks and the Mavs could really use one player that they know they could count on.

Plumlee has only played double-digit minutes in 15 games this season and an opportunity on the Mavs would give him a chance to return to his old form. A bidding war with the Wolves would not be an ideal scenario but if the Mavs could slide in and get him without giving up much, he could be a key player for their second unit frontcourt.
