Randy Foye

2015-16 Stats:

  • PPG: 6.0
  • APG: 2.1
  • RPG: 1.9

Randy Foye is certainly not the most flashy route the Mavs could go but he is a player that would provide them with some valuable experience. During his nine seasons in the NBA, he has played for five different teams.

In that time period, he’s had the opportunity to play on a rising contender in the Los Angeles Clippers and he started 70-plus games in back-to-back seasons with the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets have not exactly made Foye available but it can be inferred that they would be willing to part with him if they got a decent player in return. It’s obvious that they are ready to move on to the future with their willingness to trade players such as Danilo Gallinari and Kenneth Faried.

The only issue that would arise for the Mavs is if he would be worth giving up multiple players for. The Nuggets would most likely want younger players such as Jeremy Evans and John Jenkins and that might be more than the Mavs are willing to give up. Either way, Foye would be an instant hit in the Mavs’ rotation.

Why Foye fits in Dallas: As I mentioned earlier, shooting guard is a weak position for the Mavs. Though Foye is a veteran, he would provide the Mavs with confident playmaking as well as an added boost in the three-point shooting category.

Foye isn’t having his best year, but a simple change of scenery could be big for him, like what we saw out of Raymond Felton, for example. The Mavs would benefit greatly pairing him with either Felton or Devin Harris in the backcourt.
