The Dallas Mavericks don’t have the necessary tools to trade for a superstar at the deadline, but there are plenty of other players worth looking at.

The Dallas Mavericks are always on the market for new players. Whether there’s a rising superstar being shopped or an important role player drawing interest, you can almost guarantee that Mark Cuban, Donnie Nelson and the rest of the Mavs’ front office has checked them out.

This season is a little different for the Mavs. With a few big contracts and many valuable players, there aren’t many guys that the Mavs will be willing to part with. Virtually, every starter is untouchable as all of them have performed well for the team and younger players, like Dwight Powell and Justin Anderson, will be off limits.

A couple of bench players like Devin Harris and Raymond Felton are players that the Mavs would prefer not to trade but just might do so if the deal is right. They could put them together with guys like J.J. Barea, Charlie Villanueva, Jeremy Evans or John Jenkins to complete a decent package.

Any combination of the players mentioned above is enough to entice either a contender or a team looking to gain some veterans in preparation for the stretch run. The Mavs, however, aren’t going to trade for just any player. Without many assets, they will most likely be looking for a second-unit player to come in and boost their offense.

With that being said, there are a few players that would be great fits for a Mavs team fighting for a higher playoff position.
