Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic have been active in trade talks and have been linked to several of the NBA’s hottest deadline players. The Magic are trying to “put together something big,” according to Basketball Insider’s Steve Kyler.

Something big includes being linked to Blake Griffin and the Clippers, according to Kyler. The Magic have also expressed interest in Jeff Teague. The Magic are open to moving recently re-signed forward Tobias Harris, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, and with Oladipo’s name coming up often, he is also likely available.

Magic forward Channing Frye’s name has come up as a player that they are taking offers on. As it appears, the only players that haven’t been talked about to a certain extent are center Nikola Vucevic, rookie guard Mario Hezonja and point guard Elfrid Payton. Vucevic may be the only player that is off limits, when all is said and done.

As evident by the amount of talent the Magic have made available, they are looking to make a play in a blockbuster trade. In terms of assets, the Magic may have the most valuable assets of any team that is looking to make a deadline move, which could land them a Griffin or Teague.

It’s clear that the goal is to find another franchise player to build around. That’s exactly what the Magic should be looking for, due to the inconsistent play of Oladipo and moving him from shooting guard to point guard. The Magic already have a great young center in Vucevic and adding a second cornerstone piece to build around is the top priority for Orlando.
