Golden State Warriors

Do the defending champion Golden State Warriors really need to make a move? Probably not, since they convincingly beat the Cavaliers (twice) and Spurs this season. But it’s evident that the Warriors are going to try and break the Bulls’ record of 72 wins in a season, even if they won’t admit it.

The Warriors would likely look to add frontcourt depth. Not that their rotation isn’t already good enough with an insanely great team chemistry, but it doesn’t hurt to add more depth. It would be ideal that the Warriors clear Jason Thompson’s $6.9 million salary off the books and pair it with a future draft pick and possibly guard Ian Clark or rookie Kevon Looney. Maybe then they’d be able to acquire a big man.

Ryan Anderson may be a long shot, but if the Pelicans don’t get a better offer would they consider moving him anyway? A more realistic target for the Warriors could be Clippers’ center Cole Aldrich, who plays like a left-handed Andrew Bogut. Hawks’ center Tiago Splitter would be a more formidable option since he has playoff experience on a championship level with the Spurs.

With Festus Ezeli out with an injury and Bogut’s history of bad injuries, it may not be a bad idea for the Warriors to try and acquire another center. Not that Marreese Speights hasn’t played well, but adding depth with a starting-caliber center isn’t the worst that could happen. The main goal for the Warriors is to defend their championship.
